Preverbal imprint is an imprint formed before full understanding of the meaning of words and fixed in implicit memory not through verbal content, but through VAK context: tone, facial expression, volume, the experience of unsafety, threat, or rejection; access to it and its processing occur at the level of the submodal state, rather than through semantic recollection.
