Intolerance of uncertainty is a manifestation of anxiety in which the absence of future predictability is experienced as a threat to basic safety, as a result of which the mind either launches control to restore certainty or escapism for avoiding the experience of uncertainty; it is the opposite of tolerance of uncertainty.
